Joyce Ware is a self taught photographer who was always a pioneer with a creative streak. Born in North Carolina to a family of seven, Ware became a notable civil rights activist, a mother, studied law and co-founded a development company renovating brownstones in Harlem, New York.

In 1991 Ware “retired” to Tanzania where she opened two schools and began building her home on a remote beach plot outside of Dar Es Salaam. She began photographing her collage work and still life installations of natural and found objects to share with family and friends.

Amid the isolation of the COVID pandemic, Ware began to photograph the beauty found in the details around her.

Playing with the digital manipulation of color created vivid new perspectives, emotion and appreciation, stimulating imagination and contemplation.

This series debuted in New York City at the Jackie Robinson Museum in May 2026 in the three artist exhibition FULL CiRCLE.

Each image was printed using “diamond dust“, imparting a subtle glimmer with striking depth and impact. Additionally, these prints are mounted on wood panels.

You can now purchase this limited edition series in this original format or opt for custom versions for your space and desired design.
